LIVE-IN CARE

Dedicated Live-In Care That Helps You Remain Safely in the Home You Love

When occasional care visits are no longer enough, live-in care provides the reassurance of having a dedicated carer living in your home and supporting you throughout your daily routine.

Our compassionate carers provide personalised assistance, companionship and practical support while helping individuals retain their independence, familiar surroundings and connection to the people and community that matter most.

Every live-in care arrangement begins with a detailed assessment and is carefully planned around the individual’s needs, preferences, routines and home environment.

WHAT IS LIVE-IN CARE?

Personalised Support and Reassurance in Your Own Home

Live-in care means a professional carer lives in the individual’s home and provides support according to an agreed care plan.

Unlike scheduled care visits, the carer is present within the home for longer periods and becomes part of the individual’s daily routine, providing continuity, companionship and practical assistance when needed.

Depending on the care assessment, support may include personal care, medication assistance, meal preparation, mobility support, household tasks, companionship and help attending appointments or community activities.

The carer also has agreed rest periods, breaks and sleeping arrangements. Where someone needs continuous waking supervision or frequent assistance throughout the night, a different staffing arrangement involving additional carers may be required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a live-in carer do?

A live-in carer provides support according to the agreed care plan. This may include personal care, medication support, meal preparation, mobility assistance, companionship, household tasks and help with appointments or activities.

Not necessarily. A live-in carer lives in the home but must have appropriate rest periods, breaks and sleep. If someone needs continuous waking supervision or frequent help throughout the night, additional carers or a different care arrangement may be required.

Yes. The carer will normally need a suitable private bedroom and access to appropriate household facilities so they can live and rest comfortably within the home.

Yes. Live-in care may sometimes be arranged for recovery following hospital discharge, respite for a family carer or another planned period, subject to assessment and availability.

In some circumstances, one live-in care arrangement may support a couple living together. This will depend on each person’s assessed needs and whether one carer can provide the required support safely.

Breaks and rest periods will be discussed during the care-planning process. Where cover is needed, suitable arrangements will be agreed in advance.

A live-in carer may provide limited night-time assistance where this has been assessed and agreed. Frequent waking support may require an additional waking-night carer or another staffing arrangement.

We consider the individual’s assessed needs, preferences, routines, communication style and interests when arranging suitable support. Continuity and compatibility are important parts of creating a successful care relationship.
